Performing Arts/Drama– Top Tips

Q - What do deaf people bring to acting that hearing people might not?

A - Obviously its very different – they see things visually, so they’ve got the context and seen what’s required whereas hearing people with sound and voice may not understand what you require. It’s easier for me to teach deaf people.

Q - What problems do Deaf people have in acting?

A - In this workshop environment its ideal as everyone is using sign language so deaf people have access to what’s going on. In other environments there are communication breakdowns and there may not be interpreters provided. If interpreters are there they can provide access, but this may not always be the case.
